Describe the Content Management System – A content management system (CMS) is a computer application that supports the creation and modification of digital content. It is often used to support multiple users working in a collaborative environment.

WordPress allows users to have full control over the files, documents, as well as the design and display of the content. You don’t have to know a single line of code to publish content using WordPress. The beauty of a good content management system is to allow any user to create and manage their content without any technical know-how.

Components of CMS – There are two types –

  1. Content management application (CMA) – A content management application (CMA) is the front end component of a content management system (CMS). The CMA interface allows users to create andmanage corporate or website content.
  2. Content delivery application (CDA) – Facilitates the delivery of the created courses and modules to the student user.

  5. Content hierarchy with unlimited depth and size.
  6. Minimal server requirements.

Advantages of CMS – There are following advantages of CMS – 

  1. Reduced code.
  2. Create a unified look and feel
  3. Version control
  4. Edit permission management
  5. Create a website quickly

Disadvantages of CMS – There are some disadvantages of CMS

  1. Lack of ability to create functionality in the CMS.
  2. Need special expertise and training for content authors
